The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County was recently selected to manage a fund for Harris Home for Children. According to Community Foundation Board Chair James Gilbert, “We are honored to be of assistance to Harris Home for Children in this way. We applaud their Executive Director Tony McGinnis and their board of directors, chaired by Dr. Leon Frazier, for managing, with careful planning and financially sound stewardship, to set aside funds for a rainy day.”
Executive Director, Tony McGinnis, shared, “Choosing the Community Foundation to manage this fund for us frees us up to accomplish our mission to provide the highest level of foster care, therapeutic care, and educational services to help the children of Alabama reach their full potential. Our board will be able to concentrate more time and effort on fundraising and assisting the staff in working with the kids.”
Lynne Berry, Executive Director of the Community Foundation, remarked, “Harris Home for Children will receive several benefits from this investment with the Community Foundation. Funds that we manage for nonprofits are listed on our printed materials and on our website and are mentioned in our presentations. Most importantly, a fund increases the stability of a nonprofit and strengthens the effectiveness of their strategic planning. By delegating the administrative tasks of managing endowed funds to the Community Foundation, nonprofits are free to focus more energy on fundraising, developing donor relationships, and fulfilling their mission. We congratulate Harris Home for Children on their business acumen and professionalism and look forward to working with them to increase this asset.”
