Network allows corporate grantmakers to learn, network, and collaborate
The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County held the inaugural meeting of the Corporate Giving Network (CGN) today, which was hosted by Redstone Federal Credit Union. The meeting was attended by 15 corporate giving and/or community relations officers from 12 local companies, including: ADTRAN, Inc., A-P-T Research, Inc., Crestwood Medical Center, Intrepid, Inc., Lockheed Martin, Modern Technology Solutions, Inc., nLogic, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Simulation Technologies, Inc., Torch Technologies, Inc., Trideum Corporation, Troy 7, Inc., and Venturi, Inc., as well as the Community Foundation who organized the network and the event.
Huntsville, AL, February 5, 2016 – The Schools Foundation (TSF) is excited to announce the establishment of The Schools Foundation Endowment Fund with $200,000 committed to date. This fund, held at the Community Foundation of Huntsville Madison County, will be a permanent source of capital that will provide financial support for the Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County School districts.
HUNTSVILLE, AL – JANUARY 2016 – In August of 2015, The CornerStone Initiative and The Huntsville Inner City Learning Center were each selected to receive a $5,000 grant, the first of many, during the inaugural round of grants from the Vector Wealth Strategies Community Impact Fund, a donor advised fund set up by Vector Wealth Strategies, LLC through the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County. In December 2015, The Wings of Faith Foundation was selected to receive a $4,000 charitable grant and The Liberty Learning Foundation and AGAPE of North Alabama were each selected to receive a $3,000 charitable grant.
The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County was recently selected to manage the Huntsville Botanical Garden Legacy Fund. This new fund will be used to invest a portion of the proceeds of the capital campaign for the new Welcome Center and facilities expansion project that is currently underway.
Provision Permits Tax-free Charitable Transfers from IRAs
Huntsville, Alabama – On December 18, Congress passed the PATH Act, which renews and makes permanent the IRA charitable rollover provision of 2006, making it easier for Americans to give to causes they care about. This provision has the power to help local charities strengthen their communities by allowing individuals to roll over up to $100,000 annually from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to charity without being federally taxed.
Fund is managed by the Community Foundation and provides college campus visits for underrepresented high school students in Huntsville
Huntsville, AL – The CAP & GOWN Project is a program started by J. O. Johnson High School teacher and wrestling coach Chris Scribner and his colleagues Emily Heller and Katharine Martin as a way to improve college matriculation rates and encourage students to consider continuing their education after high school graduation. CAP & GOWN scholars have toured over 60 colleges from Montgomery to Massachusetts, and also participate in student-led community service projects. Since those first college tours, the amount of college scholarship dollars has tripled for Johnson students, and the college matriculation rate for Johnson graduates has increased by 600 percent.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (June 25, 2015) -- The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County, in partnership with DealNews, announces the creation of the DealNews Disaster Relief Fund, the Community Foundation’s component fund that will manage and provide charitable contributions to help support domestic and international disaster-relief efforts.
On November 19, 2014, A-P-T Research, Inc. (“APT”) completed a transaction by which they became a 100% employee-owned company through their Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This ESOP transaction created significant capital gains for many of the participating shareholders. Working with the Community Foundation, employees were given the option to donate appreciated shares with low-cost basis to the Community Foundation, which provided them with significant tax advantages while providing them an opportunity to support the community through philanthropy.
CFD Research Corporation (CFDRC), located in Cummings Research Park, is making a major investment in the community through two new gifts.
CFDRC is contributing $100,000 to the Community Catalyst Fund at the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County. The Community Catalyst Fund is a new endowed fund that will provide a perpetual source of grants for improving quality of life in Huntsville and Madison County.

The fund is managed by the Community Foundation and represents the first “giving circle” managed by the Foundation.
The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County and Torch Technologies today announced the creation of a new endowed fund which will provide a perpetual source of grants for improving quality of life in Huntsville and Madison County.
The new fund, called the Community Catalyst Fund, is an endowment to be funded by unrestricted gifts which will empower the Community Foundation to make annual grants for the betterment of the community.
