The Community Foundation is participating in a three-site public art project that includes Big Spring Park, City Centre, and the new Community Foundation Park. Nestled in the heart of Huntsville, Community Foundation Park at the corner of Lowe and Pelham Avenues, adjacent to the downtown Redstone Federal Credit Union.
The featured art installation is made possible through the extraordinary generosity of Bob and Phylis Baron. An accompanying donor recognition wall is made possible by Community Foundation Founding Benefactors Joe and Pam Alexander. Together, these pieces create a beautiful park that will honor donors who are improving the quality of life in this place we all call home.
Community Foundation Park will recognize donors who have given at least $250,000 to or through the Community Foundation during their lifetimes, with a special distinction for philanthropic relationships at the $1,000,000 level and above.
Additionally, a designated area on the donor wall will honor Legacy Society members who have included the Community Foundation in their legacy planning at a similar level of $250,000 or above.
The two art installations are designed by RDG Dahlquist Art Studio and managed by Arts Huntsville. The space will also feature custom-designed benches, seat walls, concrete walkways, decorative lighting and more. “Whether you’re passing by in a car, on foot or working or living in the area, this signature park will provide intimate spaces to enjoy artwork and offer a great new destination for those visiting downtown,” said Allison Dillon-Jauken, executive director of Arts Huntsville. “We’re excited because this is not only a new destination and a new gateway point for our community, but a celebration of Huntsville and who we are.”
